I’m not sure where the time went, but here we are at Christmas Eve! There has been warm weather, wind storms, car issues, great grandbaby’s birth, gingerbread houses, a Christmas tea, Christmas parties with family and friends, and so much more that happened and is still to come.
(Grandson and I made a little gingerbread house earlier, but the main gingerbread making will be tonight on Christmas Eve)
(Daughter and I took a moment last weekend for Christmas tea, accompanied by a beautiful Christmas harp.)
(We received a gorgeous centerpiece from our Texas kids. It’s just so lovely.)
(Grandpa and grandson placing the angel on top of the tree. The tree is 57 years young, and the angel is one I purchased from a fellow teacher, back in my days in education. I purchased it from her in 1990, and it is a little worse for wear, but part of our tradition. Seems like a lifetime ago.)
(The cats are nestled in the Sanctuary and getting along very well together.)
Our family Christmas party was last weekend. Lots of food, games, and gifts. It was our first since our dad passed.)
(And, speaking of my dad, we have been blessed with a robin in our front tree this winter.)
(I think he’s enjoying the little berries on our crab apple tree. Whatever the case, when I see robins, I think of my dad, who told us that is how he would say hi from the other side, IF such things are possible. And at Christmas, all things are possible!)
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Merry Christmas! Love all your family traditions, and seeing the robin- well, yes all things are possible!
ReplyDeleteThe look on the tabby cats faces is priceless!
Merry Christmas! Yes, those two are my lover boys, and the only thing they fight over is my attention.
DeleteOh Linda, how heartwarming and timely to see a robin reminder sent/of your dad <3
ReplyDeleteNo doubt the lovely Christmas Tea shared with your daughter was special. Is it an annual tradition? I have never heard of one offered around us before. Perhaps in bigger cities.
I love the shape of your Ginderbread House! We used to make Gingerbread Houses from scratch each year, when my two girls were younger. We would keep one and gift the other to someone who needed uplifting during Christmas. The tradition lasted multiple years but stopped happening after our son was born. Three kids changed several traditions, including home made matchy-matchy Christmas dresses for my girls.
Your Tabby boys are priceless. Merriest Wishes for you and your wonderful family!!
Merry Christmas, Aurora. We are blessed to have many tea houses in our city, and lots of choices. We try to take the time to attend one before Christmas, but it doesn’t always happen. We were so relaxed after this one, it felt like we’d been to a spa. It was a spa for the soul. Your gingerbread house making sounds like what we used to do with my mom. She would always make them from scratch. We used kits, and it was about the right level for the little boys. Boy energy is a real thing! At ages 2 and 4, we are mostly herding them. 😆
DeleteYou just gave me an *grand* idea! I should pull out my Gingerbread House stuff and make one with my grands (5, 8, 10). Why didn't I think of this sooner lol?!! However, I do decorate & bake cookies with them on Christmas Eve. A house/scene would be more creative! It was so fun making ice skating ponds (by melting ice blue candies) and using Teddy Grahams for figures.
DeleteMerry Christmas! I love a holiday filled with family and food.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Christmas!
DeleteMerry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
