Merry Christmas and a Blessed 2018

Merry Christmas!  I hope you all had a wonderful time with friends and family this holiday.  I absolutely did. So much so, that last night, as I was hugging my kids goodbye, I was overwhelmed with a wish that it would never end.  I had a hard time falling asleep because I was so full of love for them all--it was tugging at my heart and making me want to cry.

Before we opened our gifts, we told the kids that they in no way represented our love for them.  If that were the case, they would fall miserably short.  The gifts were just a way of saying, I hope this makes you happy today, but the bigger gift is having love for each other every day.

There are moments in life where you're overwhelmed with the magnitude of  your blessings.  You feel so undeserving, so completely undeserving, but there they are anyway.

Merry Christmas to you all, and I hope you have many, many blessings in 2018!

  1. I felt the same way at our brother's place Christmas Eve, surrounded by our brothers & our SIL & the boys & our boy (missing my daughter, but that's a nother story)... Sitting in hospital that day with our nephew, it came to me that we can NEVER miss another Christmas together. In years past, we have sometimes gotten too involved with our own little families and not gotten together with our extended family who only live 2 hours away. Talking to my SIL, we agreed; Cody has taught us that any one of us could be gone at any time, so no more Christmases will pass that we are not ALL together at least one day. God Bless us every one.

    1. There is NOTHING more Sweet than being in the company of people who love you and will be there for you in your darkest hours. It sounds like your family is that for you and for each other. ❤️

  3. Yes, Christmas is more about the family then the gifts.

  5. Glad you had such a heart warming Christmas! So well-deserved!! For me, the warm fuzzy feeling is over shadowed by the frenzy.

    1. Oddly, the frenzy was really getting to me, too. I woke up with both of my wrists sore on Christmas Eve morning, and I’m sure it was stress related. I had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas despite a major weather setback. I thank my family for that. ❤️

  6. What a beautiful way to spend Christmas. Ted and I don't get to spend Christmas with our respective children; my daughter lives in Ontario, and his daughter and son live on different parts of Alberta (we are in southern BC) so travel to them or for them to come to us is difficult in the winter. I'm glad he got to see family in November, that was his "Christmas" trip.
Hope 2018 is a good one for you too!

    1. I understand about weather. They predicted a horrible storm and bad roads through here, so we had to miss the annual Christmas Eve party at my parents. We ended up going down early and straight back home. Luckily, my kids live in town and were able to be with us.
